Baobab Fruit Powder Gets Big in Britain, UK Going Baobab SuperFood Crazy?

Britain gave us the Beatles, now it’s giving us Baobab???

Well, not exactly.  If you have spent some time on this site, you know that the Baobab fruit is native to Africa, so Britain and the UK are not responsible for introducing the world to the Baobab fruit. Where the UK and Britain are playing a big role is in eating the Baobab fruit!

In an article in the Mirror UK it was reported that Baobab fruit supplement sales are up 200% in the past year in the UK.  You have celebrity chefs cooking and making recipes that use the Baobab fruit powder.  It is becoming clear that the UK is the place where Baobab fruit is receiving the most attention.

Why is the Baobab Fruit So Popular in the UK?

It seems as if the UK media has done a good job on educating consumers about the health benefits of the Baobab fruit.  Here is a quote from the Mirror UK article -

“Found across sub-Saharan Africa, the small, melon-like fruit grows on the legendary upside down tree, named because it looks like it has been stuck in the ground with its roots pointing skyward.
Inside, the fruit is packed with a dry powder that contains three times more anti-oxidants than blueberries and six times more potassium than a banana. It also contains thiamin and vitamin B6 – all known to benefit general health. Baobab is used by those in the know to ward off cancer, heart disease, wrinkles, diabetes, fight colds, tummy upsets and boost the immune system.”

Are All Baobab Fruit Powders The Same?

Based on the recent press Baobab has been getting, we expect many consumers will run out and pick up any Baobab supplement they can find.  We strongly caution against this.  Baobab Fruit powder needs to be certified Organic, tested for bacteria and processed without heat so the nutrients remain intact.

Recently we have been using the Limitless Baobab Fruit supplement and love it.  We love that it is 100% Certified Organic and contains no other ingredients.

Do your own research, but just make sure the Baobab powder you buy is pure and free of any bacteria.
